    Arrrrrgh! (A little rant.)
I'm so annoyed this happened. Yahoo!Mail wiped out an entire chapter of an X-Men movieverse story I've been working on. It was the second chapter so the story as a whole wasn't close to being ready but this chapter was ninety-five percent done and considering how long it takes me to write anything, it pretty much makes me feel like I want to cry.

    The Strain
I recently finished reading, "The Strain," by Chuck Hogan and Guillermo del Toro. Since it's a vampire book, I figured it was approriate to review it on Halloween. I'm going to reveal major spoilers so don't read if you plan on reading it yourself and don't want major plot point revealed.

    Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
I saw the new DC comics animated movie this week-end and it was pretty good. They had to cut a lot out of the six-issue comic book storyline and they added a few changes but they actually improved it in one case. I'm going to talk about it in spoiler-ific detail so I'll put it behind a cut.

    New fall shows
T.V. Guide has a list of the new shows debuting this fall and winter and there's less this year that I'm interested in seeing than the last couple of years. Here's what I'm going to give a try:

    Animated X-Men, part 3
    "Wolverine and the X-Men," 2008-present.

With a title like that, I was worried that there would be too much focus on Wolvie and not enough on the X-Men. While it's true that Wolverine is the leader of the X-Men in this and certain episodes focus on him too much, there's enough of a balance to keep me interested.

    Animated X-Men, part 2
    "X-Men: Evolution," 2000-2003

Evolution was radically different from the original animated series that preceded it. It was much lighter in tone for most of its run and the fact that most of the characters were presented as high school students who were still learning how to use their powers made many of the characters seem new.

    Animated X-Men, part 1
Nicktoons began broadcasting "Wolverine and the X-Men," this past fall and I wasn't sure I would like it as I think Wolverine sometimes gets too much attention and the idea of him leading the team made me uncertain. But I quickly got hooked and loved the show.

But Nicktoons is only showing a few new episodes at a time between weeks of reruns and it irritated me to know that other countries had seen the entire season. I even avoided message boards about the show so I wouldn't get spoiled. But I finally found a link to a site that had all the episodes and was able to catch up on the whole season. It's really great and I'm excited for the second season.

It got me thinking about all of the various animated versions of the X-Men so I decided to write a comparison about them with my various likes and dislikes about each. It got really long so I'm going to post it in three parts.

    Anita Blake story
I posted a one-shot Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter fanfic to the PDS site. Apparently, the category for it on ff.net was taken down. That annoys me because why would they put it up if
it wasn't allowed? Oh well. I guess I have to stick to posting it to the fan site where at least it will actually be seen. You can read it here:

    http://www.pommedesang.com/efiction/viewstory.php?sid=7336

It's titled "Apple for the Teacher." I currently have four multi-chapter AB stories that I'm working on in addition to everything else and hopefully, I can start posting one of them soon as well.

    Tolkien Misc.
I recently finished reading, "A Tolkien Miscellany," by (of course) J.R.R. Tolkien. It's a collection of short stories, poems, an essay, and three long poems he translated from Old English. I've read a few of them before but it's nice to have them all together in one volume.

    Comic book movies
On the DC comics message board, someone posted a list of eighty-four movies based on comic books or graphic novels that are planned or in development. Some of them sound very interesting although the list may have been compiled a while ago as it lists the Wolverine movie as being in development. Of course, there are plenty of properties that have their rights bought by one film company or another and then nothing happens for a variety of reasons but I'm sure some of them will get made. I'm just going to post the ones I might actually see.

    Batman villain drabbles.
I've been working for months now on a series of drabbles about the Batman Rogues going on vacation. I finally finished all of them and I posted them on ff.net as twelve separate chapters. I'm going to post them here all on one post just numbered and in order. The Joker's is actually a double drabble and Riddler's is a drabble-and-a-half but the rest are all exactly one-hundred words.

    The Star Trek movie
I went to see the new Star Trek movie this week-end and I absolutely loved it. It was amazing and I loved the actors and the plot and all the humorous moments and cute little nods to the fans. I'm going to talk about major spoilers so I'll put it behind a cut.

    Wolverine: Origins
I went and saw Wolverine: Origins today and it was okay but not great. Some parts were very good and some parts were not so good. I'm going to talk about major spoilers so I'll put it behind a cut.

    Comic Book Conference
The Massachusetts Library Association was holding conferences all this week on various library-related topics. Yesterday, they had a series of mini-conferences about comic books/graphic novels. It culminated in a "Creators Panel" which featured five comic book artists/writers talking about their craft. This was the only one that was open to non-librarians so I went to it.

    Anita Blake stories
It used to be that Laurell K. Hamilton wouldn't allow fanfiction based on her books to be posted to sites like fanfiction.net. So I could only post my "Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter," stories to the PDS website where it was actually allowed, (or at least tolerated) by the author.
