    Comic book movies
On the DC comics message board, someone posted a list of eighty-four movies based on comic books or graphic novels that are planned or in development. Some of them sound very interesting although the list may have been compiled a while ago as it lists the Wolverine movie as being in development. Of course, there are plenty of properties that have their rights bought by one film company or another and then nothing happens for a variety of reasons but I'm sure some of them will get made. I'm just going to post the ones I might actually see.

    Batman villain drabbles.
I've been working for months now on a series of drabbles about the Batman Rogues going on vacation. I finally finished all of them and I posted them on ff.net as twelve separate chapters. I'm going to post them here all on one post just numbered and in order. The Joker's is actually a double drabble and Riddler's is a drabble-and-a-half but the rest are all exactly one-hundred words.

    The Star Trek movie
I went to see the new Star Trek movie this week-end and I absolutely loved it. It was amazing and I loved the actors and the plot and all the humorous moments and cute little nods to the fans. I'm going to talk about major spoilers so I'll put it behind a cut.

    Wolverine: Origins
I went and saw Wolverine: Origins today and it was okay but not great. Some parts were very good and some parts were not so good. I'm going to talk about major spoilers so I'll put it behind a cut.

    Comic Book Conference
The Massachusetts Library Association was holding conferences all this week on various library-related topics. Yesterday, they had a series of mini-conferences about comic books/graphic novels. It culminated in a "Creators Panel" which featured five comic book artists/writers talking about their craft. This was the only one that was open to non-librarians so I went to it.

    Anita Blake stories
It used to be that Laurell K. Hamilton wouldn't allow fanfiction based on her books to be posted to sites like fanfiction.net. So I could only post my "Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter," stories to the PDS website where it was actually allowed, (or at least tolerated) by the author.

    Watchmen movie
I went and saw Watchmen yesterday and it was very well done. There were only two trailers before hand which I thought was odd since there's usually four or five. One was for the upcoming Wolverine movie which continues to look awesome. The little glimpses of Gambit made me squee, especially the close-up of the red eyes and him twirling the bo staff. I'm so looking forward to it. The other trailer was for some crappy Seth Rogen movie that I haven't the slightest interest in.

I'm going to talk about major spoilers from both the movie and the graphic novel so I'll put it behind a cut.

    Author recommendation.
I've been on a reading binge lately and I've been reading through several different series written by S.M. Stirling. I bought one of his books because it sounded interesting and from there, I've come to love his books so much that I would probably read anything he'd written, even if the summary didn't sound like something I would normally be interested in. He's just that engaging of an author. I'm going to discuss his books with some spoilers so I'm going to put it behind a cut.

Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans
Well, I finally got to see Underworld 3 today and I liked it. I liked it a lot. As often happens when I see a movie in the middle of the week during the day, I was the only one in the theater. It's always fun to have my own personal theater but also slightly creepy to be all alone in there. I will be discussing major spoilers so I'll put it behind a cut.

    Year in movies.
There was an AP article in my local paper that listed the majority of the movies that are coming out over the whole year. I was surprised at the number of movies that I'm either excited to see or at least have an interest in. I think it's going to be a good year for movies so I figured I'd post a little list of the ones I'm interested in. As usual, much geekiness is in evidence.

    Group recommendations?
Well, my new year's resolution is to stop procrastinating. So far I've only been partly successful but I'm working on it. Part of that is that I've finally decided to join some of the LJ groups that I've lurked at for a long time. There's a lot I've been meaning to join or at least watch but I felt like if I was a member of a group, I'd have to participate more and I feel like I don't have enough time on line as it is, plus it's more in my nature to lurk rather than join in on discussions and debates.

But I want to participate more so I went through my interests and made a list of all the groups I was interested in. There are at least eight that I'm definitely going to join, another twelve I may watch or join, plus I've already put five groups on my list to watch since the new year.

But I was wondering if there might be others I've missed so if anyone wants to recommend some to me, I'd appreciate it. Sometimes when I look for groups on a particular topic, I can't find what I'm looking for but then I'll be searching for something else and find something that relates to the first topic so there may be groups I've overlooked. I did try to look at the groups that some of you on my friends list are members of but some of the lists are really long and I can't always tell what they're about just from the name.

I'm somewhat reluctant to join groups that have a broad scope because my interests tend to be specific. For example, instead of joining a group for Star Trek fans in general, I looked for more specialized groups that focus on certain characters, alien races, and situations.

I'm going to gradually add groups and search for more but I'd be happy to hear any suggestions.

    Comic Book Madness
Every year around the end of the year, I type up the additions to my comic book collection and count how many I have. As of right now, I own 4,825 comic books, give or take a few. I've heard of people with far larger collections but I think mine is quite extensive as well although there are still plenty of gaps that I'm trying to fill. The three largest categories are X-Men, Batman, and the Flash but I have a wide range of titles although they're mainly superhero comics with some fantasy and sci-fi as well.

    Story updates.
I swear my muse has been on overdrive lately. I've gotten so many ideas for stories that I'll most likely never get around to writing. It's somewhat annoying. But I thought I'd post a list of what I am working on right now. It's a bit long so I'm going to cut it.

    The Thin Red Line
    The Thin Red Line

    Disclaimer: I own nothing.

This is a Justice League Unlimited fic, set in the Justice Lords universe. There are some spoilers for "A Better World," parts 1 and 2. This is pretty dark but the idea's been nagging me for awhile. I considered different villains but this scenario seemed to work best. There are nods to "Flash and Substance," but no particular spoilers for that episode.
